MAAP in the UK
Road safety in the UK is an important sector of activity for the Police and Local Authorities, with demanding targets to be met.
Issues such as the Department for Transport/Scottish Executive and Welsh Assemblies’ adoption of national casualty reduction targets and the increasing climate of litigation and liability are keeping the improvement of road safety as an important priority in the 21st Century. In addition, issues such as the potential recovery of fines from well placed speed cameras and the need to formulate local transport plans continue to highlight the importance of road safety monitoring in the UK.
TRL have produced much of the most important road safety research and guidance for local and national government in the UK through their high profile work for DfT/SE/HA, amongst other organisations and companies. We have used this knowledge to feed in to the development of our MAAP software, which is a road accident database and analysis system designed to meet the needs of personnel involved with road safety issues in the UK today.
MAAP is designed to provide the information required for regular tasks quickly and easily, together with flexible user-friendly, in depth analyses for hazardous location identification and investigation as well as for special interest projects and ad-hoc inquiries.
MAAP has been operated successfully by a large number of police and local authorities throughout the UK for many years now. TRL are continually seeking and acting on feedback from clients to improve the software and maintain its position as a leading accident analysis package in the UK.
TRL offers research and consultancy services in all aspects of road safety, from litigation expertise and accident reconstruction, to research into national accident trends and government policy.
